Biography
Sophia is a multi-genre pianist and saxophonist with focuses in jazz and latin music. She loves to blend genres to add a little latin flavor to her music. Sophia uses her hispanic heritage and passionate beliefs to infuse her music with life, meaning, and vibrancy. Her montunos and tumbaos make people want to get up and dance.

Sophia began playing piano at age 3 and grew up playing alongside her sister in community and school ensembles. Originally classically trained, she began learning jazz repertoire and to improvise in middle school. During her time at Berklee she dove into the Latin music scene and specialized in salsa and Latin jazz. Her classical background gives her a solid foundation of technical skill, musicality, and theory knowledge. Her jazz and latin experience gives her comfort with the forms, harmony, and grooves in contemporary music. Now in her final year at Berklee College of Music, Sophia is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Professional Music with a minor in Latin Music Studies. As a gigging pianist and saxophonist, she is making her mark in the music scene, combining her diverse influences and experiences to bring something unique to every performance.

2018-2022
Bahama Village Music Program
Sophia was a student teacher who participated in their jazz ensembles and studied complex jazz harmony with Larry Baeder. She also taught piano lesson and assisted with the choir.
2022-2025
Berklee School of Music
Sophia attended Berklee where she got her Bachelor's degree. She majored in Professional Music with a focus in performance and Latin Music.
